Persons with Disabilities

At FHI, we work to ensure women, girls, men and boys with disabilities have access to vital services and have the opportunity to apply their skills and capacities to benefit themselves, their families and communities.

Support for Persons with Disabilities

People with disabilities are the largest minority in the world. The right to live an independent life is an inalienable right in modern societies and is one of the founding aims of Future Hope International (FHI). The FHI therefore regards the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities as the basis of our demand to abolish all barriers in everyday life in order to grant all people equal rights and self-determined participation in social and economic life.

FHI efforts provide rehabilitation services to help people with disabilities to develop their physical, mental, and social capabilities to the fullest possible extent and promote their integration into the community.

Since 2018, FHI has been improving the school enrollment and attendance of children with disabilities in Adaklu District in the Volta Region of Ghana through the Strengthening Basic Education of Children with Special Needs Project

Children with Disabilities have problems going to school.  Even when they manage to enter the formal educational system, they find it difficult to go beyond primary education. FHI  works in the Ga-East Municipal District through its Children With Disabilities Educational Development Program to help address this challenge.

FHI also works to improve the vocational and economic inclusion of people with disabilities through awareness-raising, training, and advocacy. Our program supports the creation of inclusive businesses and develops guidance and financial support mechanisms to promote access to employment for people with disabilities. Our team works with the authorities, companies, and training centers to facilitate the participation of people with disabilities in political debate and to support advocacy actions aimed at securing their inclusion in the workplace.
