Ho Municipal District
Our work in the Ho Municipality supports natural systems and the people whose health and livelihoods depend on them. We also help to improve care for women and vulnerable children, increase access to education for children, and support the wellbeing of teachers.
Our Work Across the Municipal District
Strengthening Ecological Resilience Through Wildlife Conservation and Enhancing Human Well-Being in the Kalakpa Game Production Reserve Area.
Recognizing that recovery of a species is not sustained without the well-being and engagement of the local community, FHI implemented a project in 2018, focusing on reduction of dependence and livelihood improvement of local communities in the Kalapka Game Production Reserve, in a bid to improve the status of elephants and their habitat.
Advocating with Decision Makers in Support of Children and the Vulnerable
Working in the Ho Municipal since 2015, FHI seeks to create space for vulnerable children and women. The goal is to improve care for the vulnerable in society. FHI mobilizes and equips citizens in the Ho Municipal with the knowledge and skills to monitor local government services and facilitates an advocacy methodology that results in the improvement of inadequate government-provided services for the vulnerable.
Reading Improvement in Primary Schools (RIPS) Program
Children’s inability to read made it necessary for FHI to introduce the Reading Improvement in Primary Schools (RIPS) Program in the Ho Municipal District. The program’s aim is to support children towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education.
